The Grant Jr. Bulldogs Cheerleading program provides organized Cheer & Pom programs for children from Kindergarden through 8th grade in the Greater Grant Township area. The program consists of five levels, and as many as ten squads.

All squads are assigned to cheer for teams in our Football Program, and will attend all scheduled games. Additionally our squads will participate in competitions as well as other special events.

The cheerleading program teaches the children the benefits of being part of a team, while developing good sportsmanship, character, responsibility, respect, safety and the other essentials of being a good athlete.

..............................CHEERLEADING IS A TEAM SPORT..............................

Cheerleading takes a "TEAM" to be successful; this means we expect parents and cheerleaders to understand that the success of our squads depends on EVERY member of the squad giving 110% and not the efforts of a few.

SAFETY FIRST:

The safety of the cheerleaders is our # 1 priority, so we provide the best possible training to our coaching staff to ensure that the cheerleaders will be safe.

All coaching staff members are required to successfully complete the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors - Cheerleading Safety and Education Course which is a part of the National Federation Coaches Education - Bronze Level Training program. Additionally all coaches are certified in First Aid & CPR as part of their training, and background investigations are completed on every coach regularly.

Our coaches are also given the opportunity to become members of the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association (ICCA)

SQUAD’s _________________________________________________________________________
Cheerleaders are placed on squads based on several factors: age, grade, experience, squad size, balance of ages on squads, and other factors that may change from season to season depending on the rules of that year’s competition. We may not always have a Cheer and Pom squad at each level, this is determined based on the number of children in each level.

We can not always accommodate special requests for cheerleaders to be placed on certain squads due to carpooling ect. We have over 130 cheerleaders to consider when setting up squads.

Fox Lake Junior Football and cheer is now represented by the Grant Jr Bulldogs Football and Cheer program. The official name of the organization is Grant Township Jr Bulldogs Booster Club. Grant Jr Bulldogs football and cheer is a not a newly formed organization. It is a formal rename of the Lakeland Cardinals football and cheer program to align the organization more with the Grant High School Bulldogs program, and help estabish a better feeder program for the up and coming youth football and youth cheer participants in Fox Lake, IL. Grant Township has long known the Jr. Bulldogs as the Lakeland Cardinals of Fox Lake. The Grant Jr. Bulldogs have been providing youth peewee widget pop warner football and cheerleading to kids and children in the Fox Lake area since 1970. The program has recently left the Junior Football League of Illinois, or JFLNI, and joined with the Chicagoland Youth Football League, or TCYFL. TCYFL provides management of organized youth football for northern Illinois Lake County, and Cook County, and services the NW or NorthWest Chicago suburban area for townships including Fox Lake, Mundelein, Lake Villa, Round Lake, Lake Zurich, Antioch and many other areas.
