The Grant Jr. Bulldogs provide organized football for ages 5 through 8th grade for the children in the Greater Grant Township area. The league is made up of Travel teams which all participate in The Chicagoland Youth Football League (TCYFL)

The league teaches the children the benefits of being part of a team, while developing good sportsmanship, character, responsibility, respect, safety and the other essentials of being a good athlete.

PROGRAMS:

The Grant Jr. Bulldogs offer several football programs to accommodate players of various skill ranges.

We have five levels of play in our program, and the level a player will participate in is determined by thrir age and weight. Within each level there are multiple divisions, and what divisions we will have teams competing in is determined by the number of teams we field in any given year.

The levels in ascending weight limit order are Bantamweight, Featherweight, Middleweight, Lightweight and Heavyweight.

The Divisions of play in TCYFL Are:

Big 10
The Big 10 emphasizes on competition at a high level, and include each Member Community’s best and most capable players at each level, drafted to teams prior to drafts for MAC 10 and Pac 10. It is the TCYFL’s intent to provide all Big 10 and Mid 10 players a reasonable playing time opportunity in each game (except for illness, injury, disciplinary
reason, etc.)

MAC 10
The MAC 10 emphasizes on competition at an intermediate level with equitable participation, playing under Big 10 Age/Weight Parameters, but with all applicable Pac 10 Football Playing Rules. Member Communities will draft MAC 10 players after completing the Big 10 team draft and prior to the Pac 10 team draft.

Pac 10
The Pac 10 emphasizes instruction, development and participation. Pac 10 teams are composed of players not participating in the Big 10, or MAC 10.

Maximum Ages
The ages stated for each level (Schedule H) are the maximum ages allowed for the respective levels determined using the player’s age as of September 1 of the playing year. There is no minimum age requirement.

Maximum Weights
The weights stated for each level (Schedule H) are the maximum weights allowed for the respective levels, including allowances for required clothing and weekly weight gain.

Player Participation in Games
The TCYFL strongly recommends that each eligible team player participate in each game for at least one full quarter.

Grant Township has long known the Jr. Bulldogs as the Lakeland Cardinals of Fox Lake. The Grant Jr. Bulldogs have been providing youth peewee widget pop warner football and cheerleading to kids and children in the Fox Lake area since 1970.
